Lionel Zuckier MD FRCPC

Dr. Lionel Zuckier is a widely respected expert in nuclear medicine and PET imaging. Originally hailing from Calgary, Dr. Zuckier attended medical school in New York at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, graduating in 1982. He subsequently continued his training in Nuclear Medicine and Diagnostic Radiology at Einstein and was recipient of a 5-year N.I.H. Physician-Scientist Award studying B-Cell immunology in the laboratory of Dr. Mathew Scharff. After staying on faculty for a total of 12 years, Dr. Zuckier was recruited to the New Jersey Medical School as Director of Nuclear Medicine and founding Director of PET. Prior to his arrival in Ottawa he most recently served as Professor of Radiology at the University of Pennsylvania and was Section Chief of Nuclear Medicine at the affiliated V.A. Hospital.

Dr. Zuckier holds boards in the American Board of Nuclear Medicine, the American Board of Radiology, and the Certification Board of Nuclear Cardiology and was certified as a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCPC) in Nuclear Medicine in 1986.

Dr. Zuckier has published in the multiple fields in nuclear medicine and PET and has held basic science and clinical research grants from government and industry. He has served on numerous editorial boards and professional committees including the American Board of Radiology and the Society of Nuclear Medicine.
