    Career Orientation: Clinician-Teacher

    Dr. Carly Kirshen has been recently appointed to The Department of Medicine in the Division of Dermatology effective January 2015.

    Dr. Kirshen obtained her B. Sc (Hon) in Science at The University of Western Ontario prior to completing her medical degree at McMaster University.  She completed her Dermatology training at the University of Ottawa, where she served as a Chief Resident in 2011-2012 and won the D.C. Montgomery Resident Award for research in 2012.  She is a fellow of the Royal College Of Physicians and Surgeons as well as the American Academy of Dermatology.

    Dr. Kirshen has a community dermatology practice in Ottawa, as well as a clinic at The Ottawa Hospital, Civic Campus. She is a lecturer at The University of Ottawa and is involved in resident education. Her research interests lie in Vulvar Dermatology and she is a Fellow of the International Society for the Study of Vulvovaginal Diseases.  She has done a lectureship at the Queen’s University Obstetrics and Gynecology Continuing Medical Education day.

  • Daniel Kobewka MD FRCPC

    Career Orientation: Clinician-Investigator

    Dr. Kobewka received his BSc (Hon) in Immunology and Infection followed by his undergraduate medical degree at the University of Alberta. He then came to Ottawa where he completed training in General Internal Medicine at the University of Ottawa and then an MSc in Clinical Epidemiology at the University of Ottawa.

    Dr. Kobewka practices General Internal Medicine at the Civic Campus of The Ottawa Hospital and is appointed as a Clinical Investigator at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute. His research focus is healthcare use at the end-of-life and physician-patient communication about end-of-life issues. He also has an interest in patient safety and identifying preventable medical errors at the end-of-life.

    Dr. Kwadwo Kyeremanteng (pronounced Kwajo) is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Palliative Care and Critical Care Medicine at the University of Ottawa. Dr. Kyeremanteng practices as a Palliative Care physician for The Ottawa Hospital’s Palliative Care Consultation.

    Dr. Kyeremanteng was born and raised in Edmonton where he did his medical school (University of Alberta, completed in 2005). He and his wife then moved to Ottawa where he did his Internal Medicine residency training (University of Ottawa, completed in 2008). Dr. Kyeremanteng continued his studies by pursuing a joint two-year fellowship program in Palliative Care Medicine and Critical Care Medicine (University of Ottawa, completed in June 2010).

    Along with working in Palliative Care, Dr. Kyeremanteng also does locums for Internal Medicine and Critical Care at The Ottawa Hospital. He is also doing some echocardiography training through the Department of Cardiology at the General Campus of The Ottawa Hospital.

    Dr. Kyeremanteng’s academic interests are in end of life in the palliative care and critical care settings, and integration of Palliative Care in the Intensive Care Unit. His career track is as Clinician-Teacher.

  • Angeline Law MDCM FRCPC

    Faculty Career Path: Clinician Teacher

    Dr. Angeline Law was born and raised in Montreal, Quebec.  She obtained her medical degree at McGill University in 2000 and also completed her internal medicine and cardiology residencies at McGill University.  She completed a fellowship in echocardiography and additional training in nuclear cardiology at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute in 2006.  She is an Assistant Professor at the University of Ottawa and a clinician-teacher in the Division of Cardiology.  Her practice focuses on noninvasive imaging, specifically echocardiography and nuclear cardiology.  She is the education coordinator for echocardiography training at The Ottawa Hospital – General Campus.  Her clinical interests include general cardiology, heart disease in women, the emerging field of cardiology-oncology, stress echocardiography, and patient safety.
