    Career Orientation: Clinician-Investigator

    Dr. Erin Kelly has recently been appointed to the Department of Medicine in the division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology as an Assistant Professor, effective July 2015.  She obtained her B. Sc and medical degree at McGill University.  She completed residency training in Internal medicine and sub-specialty training in Gastroenterology at the University of Ottawa.  She pursued additional training in Advanced Hepatology at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) and is in the process of completing a Masters in Clinical Trials through the London School of Heath and Tropical Medicine (London, UK).

    Dr. Kelly practices general Gastroenterology and Hepatology at The Ottawa Hospital, General Campus.  Her research interests include assessment and modulation of fibrosis in patients with chronic liver disease.

  • Tetyana Kendzerska MD PhD

    Physician Bio

    Dr. Tetyana Kendzerska has been recently appointed to the Department of Medicine in the Division of Respirology, effective March 1st, 2017.

    Dr. Kendzerska obtained her medical degree and training in Internal Medicine from Bukovinian State Medical University (Chernivtsi, Ukraine). She obtained her PhD degree in Clinical Epidemiology and Health Care Research (2014) and clinical training in Sleep Medicine (2015) at the University of Toronto. This was followed by a clinical research postdoctoral fellowship at the Institute for Clinical Evaluative Sciences (ICES central) and University of Toronto.

    Dr. Kendzerska research interests include epidemiology of sleep apnea, particularly relationship between sleep apnea and cardiovascular disease, mortality, diabetes, depression and cancer, adherence with continuous positive airway pressure treatment, survival analyses, predictive model development and measurement of patient related outcomes. She is also interested in epidemiology of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and the role of sleep related disorders in modulating the health consequences of chronic disease.

    Dr. Kendzerska will be contributing to clinical care in Sleep Medicine at the Civic Campus of The Ottawa Hospital.

  • Sana Kenshil MD, FRCPC

    Physician Bio

    Originally from Saskatchewan, Dr. Kenshil received her medical degree in Saskatoon before moving to Memorial University of Newfoundland for her Internal Medicine residency. She completed her Gastroenterology fellowship at the University of Manitoba before embarking on an Advanced Therapeutic Endoscopy fellowship at the University of Alberta with proficiency in ERCP and endoscopic ultrasound (EUS). She has an interest in medical education and training as well as innovative methods of minimally invasive endoscopic procedures. Dr. Kenshil enjoys outdoor activities including cross-country skiing and hiking, traveling, and ultimate frisbee.

  • Andrea Kew MD FRCPC

    Physician Bio

    Dr. Andrea Kew completed her undergraduate medical degree at Dalhousie University and then also completed residencies in Internal Medicine and Hematology ant Dalhousie. She subsequently undertook further training in stem cell transplantation at Dalhousie and at The Hammersmith Hospital and Imperial College in London, England.

    She was an Assistant Professor at Dalhousie University from 2008 until 2015. She joined the University of Ottawa as an Assistant Professor in October 2015. Her clinical interest is in plasma cell disorders.

    Dr. Kew has an academic interest in medical education and was the Program Director for Adult Hematology at Dalhousie from 20018-2013 and has recently become the Program Director for Hematology at the University of Ottawa.

    Faculty Career Path: Clinician Teacher

    Dr. Khan received her medical degree from Osmania University in India, her postgraduate training in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology in Ottawa, Toronto and Washington DC. She provides care for patients at the Diabetes clinic, Riverside campus, and has an office based practice in the community. She teaches and mentors students and residents at the Division of Endocrinology, The Ottawa Hospital, and International Medical graduates at her office in the community.

    She has advocated for patients and physicians in her role as Chair of the Section on Endocrinology at the Ontario Medical Association, and her volunteer work at the local, national and international level promoting diabetes education, cross-cultural care and women’s health.
