    Career Orientation: Clinician-Teacher

    Dr. Michel Dionne has been recently appointed to The Department of Medicine in the Division of Palliative Care, effective July 2015.

    Dr. Dionne obtained his B. Sc. (Hon) in chemistry and his M.D. at the University of Ottawa prior to completing training in anatomical pathology at Dalhousie University in Halifax (2005). After practicing pathology in Halifax and Peterborough, he returned to Ottawa and joined the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at The Ottawa Hospital and University of Ottawa. In 2012-2013, he completed a year of training in palliative medicine at the University of Ottawa, after which he began practicing palliative care in the community. Dr. Dionne joined the Supportive and Palliative Care Consultation Service at The Ottawa Hospital as a locum physician in 2014, where he continues to practice palliative care. His main academic interest is undergraduate medical teaching.

    Sue Dojeiji MD MEd FRCPC

    Physiatrist-in-Chief, The Ottawa Hospital Rehabilitation Centre and Bruyère Continuing Care, University of Ottawa

    Sue Dojeiji led the Division of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at The Ottawa Hospital and the University of Ottawa from 2009 to 2015.  The Division of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitaion has been successful in recruiting several high tier clinician scientists and dedicated clinical teachers.

    Dr. Sue Dojeiji obtained her medical degree from the University of Western Ontario in 1993.  She a Master of Education (Health Professions) from OISE/University of Toronto in 2000 and successful completed the Canadian Society of Clinical Neurophysiologists Electromyography exam.

    Dr. Dojeiji’s clinical practice includes musculoskeletal and peripheral neurologic medicine and neuromusculoskeletal rehabilitation.

    She is a Clinician-Educator with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, supporting the work of the CanMEDS office, and chair of the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Royal College Examination Committee.  In addition, she served as the U of O residency program director for 5 years and as a Maintenance of Certification accreditor with the University of Ottawa Continuing Medical Education Office.

    Her areas of scholarship include communication skills teaching and evaluation.  She co-developed a learning module and rating scale for assessing consultation letters. She is currently developing a rating scale to measure team based communication and collaboration within the context of the family conference.

  • Mary Ann Doyle

    Physician Bio

    Dr. Mary-Anne Doyle has recently been appointed to the Department of Medicine in the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism effective July 2015.

    Dr. Doyle completed a BSc in Human Kinetics at the University of Guelph and MSc in Human and Applied Physiology at King’s College London, England. Dr. Doyle graduated from McMaster Medical School in 2005. She completed her residency training in Internal Medicine (2008) and Endocrinology and Metabolism at the University of Ottawa (2011). Following her clinical training, Dr. Doyle enrolled in the Clinical Investigator Program and MSc Epidemiology and was supported by CIHR Canadian HIV Trials Network Fellowship.

    Dr. Doyle is also an Associate Scientist at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute in the Clinical Epidemiology Program. Her research will focus on the metabolic complications associated with viral hepatitis, HIV and the medications used to treat these viral illnesses with a particular focus on the association between hepatitis C and impaired glucose metabolism.

  • Catherine Dub√©, MD, MSc, FRCPC

    Physician Bio

    Dr. Dubé is currently  the Clinical Lead for ColonCancerCheck, Ontario’s colorectal cancer screening program. She is a gastroenterologist who obtained her Medical Degree from the University of Montréal in 1989, where she also completed a Master’s degree in pharmacology (1990). She completed her fellowships in Internal Medicine (1993) and Gastroenterology (1995) as well as a Master’s degree in Clinical Epidemiology (1999) at the University of Ottawa. She was Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of Calgary from 2006-2013 and is currently a Staff Physician at The Ottawa Hospital and an Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Ottawa.

    Dr. Dubé has been a member of the steering committee for the CAG’s Endoscopy Quality Program, leading to the CAGs consensus on Quality in Endoscopy, published in 2012. As part of this program, she has chaired and presented several workshops to various professional groups on quality and patient-centered care in endoscopy as well as the use of the Endoscopy Global rating Scale (GRS). She participated with colleagues and experts to the creation of the Canadian version of the GRS (C-GRS) and led the Canadian Association of Gastroenterology’s initiative to implement and support its use in endoscopy units across Canada. Dr. Dubé was Medical Lead for the Alberta Colorectal Cancer (CRC) Screening program from 2011-2013, where she led the implementation of the fecal immunochemical test (FIT). She also participated in the work of the Canadian Partnership Against Cancer (CPAC) to define pan-Canadian quality determinants for CRC screening programs.
