Dr. Craig Lee received his undergraduate medical education from the University of Manitoba. Following completion of his Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases training at the University of Manitoba, he spent three years as a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of Calgary. Under the supervision of Dr. Larry Bryan, he commenced his laboratory-based research in characterizing the molecular mechanisms of heme-iron uptake in a select group of mucosal sexually transmitted bacterial pathogens.
Upon completion of this fellowship in 1989, he was recruited to the Departments of Medical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases at the University of Calgary. Dr. Lee moved to the University of Ottawa in 1999 where he has continued his research program. He assumed the position of Program Director of the Adult Infectious Diseases Training Program in June 2009, a position he formerly held at the University of Calgary.
