Dr. Lara Khoury is the postgraduate Program Director of the Geriatrics Program of the University of Ottawa. She is a specialist in Geriatric Medicine at the Ottawa Hospital. She graduated from Biochemistry in 1995, and received her Doctorate in Medicine from the University of Ottawa in 1999. She later completed her residency training in Internal Medicine (1999-2002), and pursued her Geriatric Specialty Training (2002-04) at the University of Ottawa. Following graduation, she worked for one year as a Medical Consultant on the Geriatric Psychiatry Inpatient Unit of the Royal Ottawa Hospital, before joining the Division of Geriatric Medicine at the Ottawa Hospital as a full time member in 2005. She later became the Medical Director of the inpatient geriatric services at the Ottawa Hospital (the Geriatric Medicine Unit and the Geriatric Consultation Service) and in 2015 was appointed the Program Director of the Geriatrics Program. Her clinical interests include atypical presentation of disease in the elderly and prevention of delirium in hospitalized older persons. Her research interests are in Delirium, Early Mobilization of Older Persons in hospital and Interprofessional Education of Residents.
