Dr Rakesh V. Patel is an Assistant Professor of Medicine and Program Director for Adult Critical Care Medicine at the University of Ottawa. He is also the Chairperson for the Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee for the Ottawa Hospital. Â After practicing as a Clinical Pharmacist for 4 years, in the ICUs and Emergency Department, at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, he returned to Canada and obtained his MD degree from McMaster University in 1998. He completed his General Internal Medicine residency in Ottawa (2001) and his Masterâ€™s in Health Research Methodology at McMaster in 2003. He then returned to complete his adult critical care medicine training at U of Ottawa. He has been practising critical care and internal medicine, in Ottawa, since 2004. His research interests include clinical pharmacology/therapeutics and medical education. He received the â€śClinical Teacher of the Yearâ€ť in 2006 from the General Internal Medicine residents.
