1. Recognize individuals who, with little or no respiratory function, may still be weaned from invasive airways.

2. Understand the application of mechanical cough assistance and mouthpiece ventilation in weaning from invasive airways and the measurement of the MIC-VC difference.

3. Understand the implications of successful weaning (or not) to non-invasive ventilation
