Deprescribing benzos: why EMPOWER works

Educational Objectives:

  1. To critically appraise up-to-date evidence of the harms associated with sedative-hypnotic use in older adult
  2. To share the results of the EMPOWER trial and model effective communication methods for deprescribing
  3. To equip clinicians with strategies to better manage insomnia and overcome practical barriers to tapering benzos in older adults
