Supporting the postgraduate training program and the researchers of tomorrow is even more important today as research dollars are harder to obtain and yet the number of questions and opportunities to provide better care for our patients are increasing. Research is a critical part of the journey to the highest quality patient care. I hope the journey for many of the residents starts with Resident Research Day.

New components added to this year’s event included the addition of concurrent research track oral sessions and a debate which was both informative and entertaining!

A record number of submissions were received this year – 54 in total. Thanks are due to the research supervisors who have put time and effort into supervising these projects. Many thanks again to Cindy Taylor for organizing this event and as in the past, this day is made possible as a result of our faculty members who have acted as abstract reviewers and session judges.

Many thanks to Dr. Sharon Straus, M.D., M.S. for agreeing to be our keynote speaker. Dr. Straus is Director, Knowledge Translation Program, Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute of St. Michaels Director, Division of Geriatric Medicine University of Toronto. She shared her views on EBM: Evidence-Based Mentorship.
