Controversies in Thyroid Guidelines in Pregnancy

Educational Objectives:

  1. Appreciate the difficulties in interpreting thyroid functions in pregnancy
  2. Critically appraise the basis of recommendations to treat subclinical hypothyroidism or women with +TPO antibodies in pregnancy
  3. Gain confidence in the distinction of gestational thyrotoxicosis from Grave’s disease and whether a fetal goiter is likely due to medication-induced hypothyroidism or antibody-induced hyperthyroidism
