First Department of Medicine Medical Education Research Bursary Award

 

The Department of Medicine recently selected Dr. Samantha Halman as the recipient of it’s¬†first medical education research bursary award.¬†The bursary was developed to provide salary support to physicians in the Department of Medicine who are Clinical Scholars with an academic focus in Medical Education.

Samantha is currently completing her fellowship in General Internal Medicine and will join the Department of Medicine as a clinical Scholar in July of this year. She has been involved in medical education research over the last four years and her research interests focus on Competency-Based Education and in particular, provision of effective feedback and Curriculum Development. She has presented at both local (AIME day) and international (International Conference on Residency Education, 2011) conferences. Dr. Halman has been accepted into the Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education through Dundee University in Scotland and to the AIME/uOSSC Fellowship in Medical Education at the University of Ottawa.
