Shawn Aaron multiple grant winner!

Dr. Shawn Aaron has been awarded a $900,000 CIHR grant to determine if correct lung function tests are currently being ordered in the diagnosis of new cases of asthma.¬†The outcome of this study could help develop better diagnosis strategies through more rigorous, objective methods.¬†This study is a follow-up to Dr. Aaron’s controversial 2008 CMAJ publication that showed approximately 30% of individuals with physician-diagnosed asthma did not have asthma when objectively assessed, and that in developed countries such as Canada, asthma is overdiagnosed.

Dr. Aaron has also been awarded $2.5 million from CIHR for his application entitled “Simvastatin therapy for moderate and severe COPD”.

Congratulations on your success!
